Firefighters from Nicoya spray down a few remaining hotspots at a fire which occurred on the National Route 160 in Guiones Beach .
The Nosara firefighters almost had the fire under control by the time the firefighters from Nicoya arrived, however, they provided
some much needed relief.
On Sunday February 5th, around 7 AM, the furniture manufacturer "Tuanis", located on route 160 in Playa Nosara, went completely up in flames. Nosara volunteer firefighters were the first to reach the fire, using water from the pool at The Village Foods. They had the fire 80% controlled by the time Nicoya firefighters arrived. | When it comes to profits from the sale of liquor, both the owner of the bar and the owner of the liquor license that the bar utilizes can take a big slice of the pie. But only 300 colones per year of the liquor license use tax goes to the municipality Why? Because the law that regulates these licenses dates back to 1936. |

The Secret is in Collaboration
Letter to the Editor |
 |
I was delighted to read your report, "The Future of Tourism" to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in the lower Guanacaste beach communities. As a destination development specialist for the World Bank and other international clients, I believe there is now an opportunity to capitalize on the region's distinctive attributes, particularly in markets that have not yet discovered this beautiful corner of the world. |

Living in a small town, Nosareños know how easily rumors can get started. Misunderstandings, secrets and lies are all part of what makes the intrigue of a small town exciting. Things are no different in the world of Neil Simon's New York where a group of socialites gather to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of two of their closest friends. |

It's summertime and with it the country's beaches are filled with local and foreign visitors, all in search of the very same thing: to enjoy the sea and sand while relaxing under a radiant sun. On January 26th we celebrated the creation of our District: Nosara. Therefore this could well be considered the most important local calendar date. Twenty-four years ago this region, which now forms the sixth district of the Canton of Nicoya, belonged to the central district of the canton. In other words, we were part of the District of Nicoya. |

Bus Stop Locations Create Hazard for Drivers and Pedestrians |
| By Arianna McKinney |
 |

Cars turn right around a bus stopped at the corner of the main intersection in Samara although it is hard to see if cars are coming from the other direction. |
 |
If someone isn't paying attention and using the proper caution, an accident could easily occur at the main intersection entering Samara, especially when buses are present, reducing visibility of oncoming traffic. |
