| We Will Have Firefighters In Nosara |
 |
| By Myriam Schaerer |
 |

For the past 11 years I have lived in Nosara, which I love, everyday feeling more like it’s my home. As the years passed I realized that Nosara has many problems, but despite all this we have tried to live in this paradise.
Seeing Nosara’s necessity for a fire department, and later the various destructive fires that nobody could do anything about due to the lack of equipment, I volunteered myself to the task of finding people who wanted to help us with the current gaps.
That’s how I found in Switzerland, the country I am originally from, in the exact town I used to live called Biel, the department of Firefighters. After telling them the story of Nosara and the problems we have had, they became interested in helping and they felt more secure working through a native person from there.
They offered us
1.Portable equipment which is easily moved to the required location, which contains a powerful gas pump with a trailer that includes hoses which can be filled with water from any swimming pool, river or ocean and the special inflammable material necessary to put out the fire.
2.Uniforms consisting of: boots, pants, jackets, gloves and helmets.
3.All inflammable material; made for the occasion.
4.Trained technicians with extensive experience who will be in charge of training and the correct plan of action in case of a fire.
5.This information will be passed on to a group of volunteers who will be in charge of Nosara’s fire cases.
The aforementioned team arrived in Costa Rica in November, thanks to Mr. Marcel Schaerer and his good relationship in the nation of Switzerland and who kindly obtained said team for the Nosara community.
Mr. Schaerer lodged the technicians in his hotel, Giardino Tropicale, during the week.
